Waiting for Maxis' Q4 result... Axiata delivered RM632 millions in Q3... how much Maxis can deliver in Q4 ?

PE for IHH Heal THcare & Astro is 50 & 35 respectively.
Maxis is still at the stage of transformation 2014
By improving POT, Maxis shd be able to achieve 28 by 2015, hopefully.

Ex date = 26/11 & entitlement date =28/11
Buyer observe ex date and Seller observe entitlement date
If buyer buy the share on 26/11, dividend for Q3 not included
Seller must keep the share till 28/11 in order to entitle for Q3 dividend
Thus, I wud advise u to sell on or after 1/12 as to earn the Q3 dividends.

The Aircel case in India has nothing to do with Maxis Berhad in Malaysia. Aircel was invested via Maxis Communication Berhad ( MCB)..Previously, Maxis Berhad was also owned by MCB.. But remember or not , in December 2013 MCB had sold Maxis Berhad to Binariang GSM Sdn Bhd ??? As such, Maxis Berhad and Aircel are completely two different entity.

OIC.. for purpose of comparing the rate, it is best to convert the 30sec to 60sec block, then you will notice actually the IDD rate is not very cheap. Further, Maxis is offering the IDD rate based on the "132" approach where they are collaborating with other international carriers to offer competitive call rate..
The postpaid rate of 15sen/min is kind of old standard rate plan, which Maxis advertised one rate within Malaysia & for Maxis to Maxis calls, callers are entitled for 20% call charge discount. But, why use this standard old rate plan when you can subscribe for other cheaper rate plans ?
As for me, I have 5 mobile lines + 1 data line with Maxis... the average charges I paid is only abt RM200/mth, average abt RM40/person/mth. I am a heavy user cos using the mobile line for my business. I subscribed for the rate plan where family members calling family members is foc. So, I think the rate plan is good for me :)

Andy,
Not sure what rate plan you are using.. if you use Maxis' TalkMore28 plan, you can talk for 200 mins with RM28 and with free 100 SMS. Even if you have finished off your monthly quota of 200 mins, the call rate for pay per use is only RM0.15/min. You are advised to call up Maxis' call Center @ 123 to find out more. Pls also access to the above link to understand Maxis' service packages :)

Yes, they see a bigger picture than us.
Yes, look like some big events are coming soon
They strategize to acquire more Maxis shares in a much lower price
& sapu the 16 sen dividends as well.
If you have extra $$$, its time to buy more Maxis share now.
But if you do not have extra $$$, it's ok but keep your Maxis
shares, do not sell out the shares now !!

Both Maxis and Axiata are closed at RM6.93 today

Ya.. possibly I got it wrong cos too busy & did not check into the date details.
But there is a difference between the dividend ex date & dividend declared & confirmed
date. Once Maxis confirmed to pay the final dividend for 2013, they will have to lock up
the funds from their book to pay for the dividends, thus this lead to a reduction in
the share price value.
2014-05-08 16:47 | Report Abuse
Once the dividend is declared, the market share price wud less out the dividend amt to reflect the actual market value.. it's norm, don't worry.. The share price will rise again shortly within days
If we have confident with Tan Sri Anantha Krishnan, why we need to bother Hong Leong and HwangDBS. They can target whatever price laa. But if the targeted price never come true, not sure how the investors wud think of them. :) LOL

Many asked abt the parking fee, late refreshment foods & door gift etc but have forgotten to ask about the dividend for 2015.
Chairman mentioned that 2014 is a transformation year & we can only see the result of the new management in 2015.
In 2015, the dividend distribution will be depend very much on the net profit & no guarantee of 40 sen dividends. 75% of the net profit will be distributed as dividends to the share holders.. Maxis can borrow money to pay extra dividend provided that the total amt of loans borrowed is less than 2 times ebitda.

Surely someone will ask the Chairman abt this.
Shareholders shd try to attend this critical AGM,
I will be there :)

Maxis paid out dividend quarterly @ 8 sen/share ( good for year 2014) + 1 final dividend payout in June.. also 8 sen/share. Therefore, Maxis paid 40 sen dividend per lot per year.

They are re-structuring the company...
We can expect to see the result by 2015.
Investment in Maxis shd be long term :)

Small adjustment in KLCI for past few days.
Question is, will recession hit this market in 2014 ?
Personally, I don't think so. Everything seemed too good in the market,
2014 would be a bullish year. But also watch out & alert for some unpredicable events, like possible war between China & Japan etc

UOB Kay Hian said Maxis will focus on improving data products..
UOB Kay Hian believes that Maxis' new president Morden Lund will take some time to rectify the company before the development of the company be hampered . Measure actions included to execute another round of layoff. The company has been in 3Q13 sacked nearly 500 employees.
Maxis Is Malaysia's largest telecommunications company, customers/users continue to drain since June 2008 ( market share fell 13 percentage points ) , while its share has continued to decline this year to 27 %. UOB Kay Hian believes that the company is seeking through the introduction of more products to encourage users to use their mobile services to improve average revenue per use (ARPU).
To support its data strategy, the company expects to invest more capital fund in 2014 than in 2013 . Its Capital expenditure had been fell from 2011 's 1.4 billion ringgit to 2012's 10.83 billion ringgit.
Remarks : UOB Kay Hian maintained " hold " status rating for Maxis , target price reduced to 6.80 ringgit, which is based on 2013 and 2014 Investment Company ( respectively 800 million and 58 million ringgit RM1.1 billion ) , after both of accounting for 9 % of revenues and 11%

They shd stop borrowing once their gearing ratio reached 2%.
If I am not mistaken, TM's gearing ratio for 1st half 2013 was
2.25%

Hmmm..they executed the clean-up slowly and very carefully.
Apparently, there are potential buyers behind them.

Don't really expect much from Q3 result, just hope to get the 8 sen dividend on 28/11/13

Unless with a new big buyer like Vodafone, the current market share price of Maxis can not move up significantly.
Maxis is working very hard on their internal clean-up, it thus somehow indicated that they already have potential "partner(s)" behind them.

Not sure of the price rise, will find out later.
As for Kiran, I think your figure shd be at the high side. If the average salary of the retrenched workers is $10k/person & average employment period is 10 years & Maxis managed to retrench 450 staff, the total compensation paid cud be $10,000 X 2.25 X 10 mths X450 staff --> $101 million.
Therefore, I think, the total estimated compensation paid out to retrenched workers shd be
around 101 - 150 millions.

Thanks for sharing the report which was accurately reported. It is a known fact that Maxis' gearing has been on the rise. Maxis never want to hide this fact and they said they managed the borrowings effectively. Assume that interest rates have increased substantially, the worry is that, it cud erode the dividend amount..Hmm.. how Maxis cud handle this ?? Understand that they will be offering VSS to their employee by end of next month, to reduce their staff force by at least a few hundreds. Maxis employee are alrady aware of this. When Morten come on board on 01-10-2013, I guess, he will embark many aggressive marketing campaigns to boost sales. Morten is good at this :) There is one more reason as to why AK want to pay dividend more than PAT, but I think it is not appropriate for me to reveal here, just in case, I got it wrong :)

Huge debts ?? Nope... On the contrary, Maxis doesn't have enought debts.. For a normal company, it is ok to have a " gearing ratio" of not more than 2% on borrowings. When Maxis went for public listing in 2010, it had a clean 0% gearing ratio, that's why they are now slowing putting in back some borrowings in their books to behave as a "normal' company. The present standing of their gearing ratio is about 1.2++% and they are still afford to borrow more to pay for higher dividend.. They managed their borrowings very well with effective capital management skills, basically is to obtain the lowest interest rate loans from FIs via Bonds. For Q 2, their total PAT is RM530 millions but they are able to pay RM600 millions dividends to shareholders. Further, they commit to pay RM400/lot till year 2015. AK's bad experience in India, has nothing to do with Maxis Berhad in Malaysia. :) We do not have to worry about this :)

OIC... their point is, Puncak Semangat's future corporate mobile plans wud somehow impact Maxis ( but funny, only Maxis wud be impacted and other tel operators wud not be impacted ?? ). Their top pick is Digi. That's why their Maxis' TP is RM5.65. This is their view only laa. We can choose to ignore.
